Studio Etiquette

Following these helpful hints will allow everyone to have an enjoyable yogic experience.

  • Please make an effort to arrive on time.  If you arrive during opening seated meditation please wait in the lobby until movement begins.
  • If you need to leave class early, please notify the teacher, allow yourself five minutes for relaxation and leave before final relaxation begins so as not to disturb the class.
  • Shoes are never worn in the asana room. Please leave your belongings in the cubbies provided. You may bring any valuables into the asana room.
  • Please turn off your cell phone or pager to avoid distractions.
  • Try not to eat a meal too close to your practice, we recommend 2 – 3 hours prior to class, busy intestines distract you from your practice.
  • Dress comfortably in clothing that will move with you. Practice in bare feet.
  • For the comfort of those around you, please avoid wearing heavy perfumes.
  • If you smoke, refrain for one (1) hour before class.
  • Notify the teacher of any serious health conditions such as neck, back or joint injuries, heart disease, high blood pressure, recent surgery and/or pregnancy.  If you experience pain during class notify the teacher immediately.
  • Avoid inverted poses during menstruation.  Your teacher will offer modifications.
  • Sticky mats are available for your use but for hygienic reasons we recommend bringing your own.

To make the most of your yoga practice, bring an open mind and stay in the present moment.  The rewards will carry over into your daily life creating balance and harmony.
